Air Tightness Testing Frequently Asked Questions

Part L Building Regulations requires all new residential & commercial buildings to be tested for air leakage. This is carried out when a property is nearing completion and is necessary for Building Control to provide the final Building Certificate.

A good Air Tightness Test result will give a development a better environmental rating, improving its saleability.

As members of the British Institute of Non Destructive Testing (BINDT) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) we are experts in Air Leakage Testing.

Our tests are carried out in accordance with ATTMA Technical Standard TS1 and BS EN13829:2000. Our certificates are accepted by Building Control as evidence that the correct procedures have been followed. Building Control therefore does not have to be present at our tests.

We carry out Air Tightness Tests with minimal inconvenience. We will also provide practical information prior to the test to ensure your development not only achieves a ‘pass’ but achieves as good a score as possible.

Our service is used by developers, builders, architects, Councils and Housing Associations.

With national coverage we provide Air Leakage Tests to some of the UK’s top developers and construction companies and at the same time offer a cost effective, professional service to those requiring a ‘one off’ testing service.

We can also provide SAP/SBEM calculations, new-build Energy Performance Certificates & Code for Sustainable Homes Assessments making us a cost effective ‘one-stop shop’ to ensure your development successfully fulfils Part L of the 2006 Building Regulations.

Whether you are in the North, South, East or West, our team of engineers are strategically located around the country to provide a quick and cost effective service.
